Fifteen of the best... |
70s80s90s Australian Rules
Does what it says on the tin. Plenty of full matches and half-hour highlights from the late 70s and early 80s. At a glance, no particular team favoured. 3072to4170 Superb for Fitzroy fans, with many highlights from their victories in the late 70s and early to mid-80s. ABCStateFooty Modern-day SANFL, WAFL, VFL and TSL highlights that are unlikely to be found anywhere else. May actually be an official ABC account; over 1200 videos on the channel. AFL The Real McCoy. Match highlights from the last five years, highlight compilations, interviews. Since uploading in HD from 2016 the channel has improved immeasurably for viewers. AFL Draft Central From the website of the same name, a ridiculously huge repository of videos for all 2016 draft contenders. 300+ videos just on this year’s crop alone. AFLTV Countdowns, compilations, draft coverage and some classic quarters. AFL Ninja Only a small and new channel but it’s all full-length content so signs are promising. AFLVideos2011 The home of prolific and divisive BigFooty poster "TradeDraft" whose draft video coverage is second to none. Also features random 1990s match excerpts. Has been inactive for the last three years, but over 800 videos remain on the channel. ALs Highlights One for the Dogs fans. Goals, interviews and highlights with a steady stream of uploads throughout the year. Just under 500 videos on the channel. aussie80s Majority of content uploaded close to a decade ago, but there are still few better channels for old 1980s VFL footy than this one. Highlights from at least one match in every round from midway through 1981 right up to the end of the 1989 season. World of Sport, NEC Footy Flashbacks, Seven’s Big League, Coodabeen Champions… lose yourself in it all. Over 700 vides on the channel. Bronxy Full matches of all Collingwood’s wins in their most recent premiership-winning year, 2010. Only a new channel so interested to see where this goes. Collingwood Beatle Half-hour highlights from a number of late-80s and early-90s Collingwood matches. Costa Sports A real treasure trove for lovers of all sports. On the footy side of things, there’s “#AblettWeek” with heaps of unseen Gary Ablett Snr highlights, full matches and random highlights (it’s only semi-obvious that Costa is a Cats supporter). What’s most enjoyable about the channel is the plethora of rare documentaries – Marking Time, That Was The Season That Was for a number of years, old Brownlow Medal telecasts… we think he has plenty more in the archive too. crazyhawk The one-stop shop for any Hawthorn fan. Given the team’s success over the past few years there’s been an overwhelming amount of content for CH to post and he’s delivered in spades. Nearly 900 videos on the channel, from full matches to TV spots to Fox Footy docos make it a must-watch for fans of brown and gold. crowtricolours Plenty of rarities in here, plus pretty much every game the Crows played between 1991 and 1993. Also lots of media coverage from Adelaide’s back-to-back premierships. DannyEmbling A Fitzroy fan from way back. Hasn’t posted any footy videos in six years and his channel has turned into something completely different but it’s worth posting here for his wealth of archival footage. darijoe Heaven for Cats fans. Extended highlights (read: goals) for nearly all of Geelong’s wins from the last half-decade, plus a bit of 90s footage too. For archival purposes it’s a shame that the highlights feature only one team’s goals, but the quality of content is good nonetheless. Over 300 videos on the channel. elchubenibre Also known as "Mars", a frequent uploader in the late 2000s but has gone missing over recent years. No shortage of highlights and TV clips from the Pies’ successful era in 2010 and plenty of compilations also. Over 700 videos on the channel, although not exclusive to footy. extraverse The YouTube alias of HBG contributor Matt Gibbs. Contains full matches and highlights predominantly featuring – but not limited to – the Collingwood Football Club, but the meat of the channel comes from the vast number of documentaries that cannot be found elsewhere. Note that the channel is not exclusively footy-based. |
Footy Fans
A saviour for those without Foxtel, there are plenty of footy panel shows, Open Mike episodes, and full matches posted throughout the 2016 season and it will likely continue next year. George Nikolaou Also known as "100volt1", various Collingwood clips and previews from the past few seasons. Note that the channel is not exclusively footy. Gezza1967 So much content on here that can’t be found anywhere else, official or otherwise – particularly in the way of VFA. The 1970s and 80s are covered consistently, even if at times it is footage recorded off a TV with a camcorder! Plenty of various VFL match highlights from the 70s and 80s too. Over 1,000 videos on the channel. giantroo Revered by North supporters on BigFooty, you would be doing well to have the kind of poster that GR is for your club. Each week he posts up every North goal from every match and the hard work continues into the off-season with plenty of draft content. Over 700 videos on the channel. guodade Plenty of excerpts and highlights from random games across all teams, nearly exclusively from the 90s. Jarooosa Small clips and highlights from 1980s matches, mostly Carlton. Notable for its humorous commentary clips and the presence of vision from Grumpy Old Men, the old Fox Footy panel show which is scarce on the internet. Jeff Albertson A bevy of Crows content, but his full-length content is unrivalled – six hours plus-long all day coverage from recent grand finals. Full matches and highlights in abundance for Adelaide supporters. Over 400 videos on the channel. John Carr Also known as "The Holy Boot", this channel is a treasure trove of old games recorded from VHS and transferred to YouTube – sometimes even including the original commercials! Nearly all are from the 90s or 80s, and while the majority of matches feature Richmond, there’s something to be found for everybody. Mighty Roar Lots of old Fitzroy matches in full, a couple of historical docos and a number of clips from the Brisbane Lions premiership era. Great for any Roys fan or Lions fan with an appreciation of the past. Mister Mechanic Another Dogs supporter, various full matches and highlights from random games as well as rare season highlights videos. Navyblue95 Carlton supporter that specialises in extracting Blues-related clips screened on Fox Footy throughout each week of the season. Also a number of old 80s highlight clips seen on The Winners Rebooted. oztiger73 A heap of old matches stretching back through the decades. While it favours Richmond, there's also plenty of old state league stuff and some rare radio commentary rips that you won't find elsewhere! R Hawk Another ripping channel for fans of brown and gold, R Hawk’s speciality comes in posting full games (usually Hawthorn grand final victories!) with different commentary audio, be it SEN, 3AW, K-Rock, etc. Reeve McLennan A great channel with something for everyone, made up mostly of original VHS rips of close finishes and highlights from over the years. McLennan is a Richmond supporter but there are still plenty of uploads where the Tigers do not feature. Ryan martin While it doesn’t contain many lengthy videos, the profile is distinct for the number of rare games unseen on any other channels, including clips from the night series and international matches in Miami, Toronto and Yokohama. SAfootballarchive From the website of the same name, which specialises in building a video archive of SANFL matches that no TV network or private collector can match. Highlight clips, extended excerpts and full matches from SANFL games across the decades, particularly the 1980s. SpiritofCarltonTV Linked with the Blueseum website, which is now officially linked with the Carlton Football Club, this is definitely a channel for Blues fans only - but what a channel it is. Season by season highlights of nearly every past player for the last 40 years, no matter how obscure; it really is quite something to turn up a 7-minute highlight video for Rohan Burke’s best moments of 1983… this is a player who played just 18 games over six years at Princes Park. That’s how deep this channel is. sportjunky4371 Deserves all the praise for having one of the best and most extensive channels on YouTube. The games he possesses are not rare by any stretch, but the way the highlights are compiled are extremely professional for someone still in high school. Most matches are compressed to within 20 and 30 minutes depending on how many goals are kicked. There’s plenty of classic matches on here, most in decently watchable quality. |
