ABOUT

ABOUT THE 1963 SERIES

*Footscray's flag - the Bulldogs broke through for their first night title, and just their second senior flag of any sort since moving from the VFA to the VFL in 1925.

The Age match report of the 1963 Night Grand Final notes that after the game jubilant Bulldogs supporters joined the players in chairing captain-coach Ted Whitten senior from the field.

*Curtain-raisers - a round-robin competition between: Altona, Central Altona, Clayton, South Melbourne Y.C.W., Spotswood, Springvale, West Newport, Williamstown C.Y.M.S.

*Leading Goalkicker of the Series - Richmond's Peter Hogan led all scorers with 7 goals from three matches played.
